I love architecture. I have always seen it as a built portion of a larger world, where inside and outside are inherently linked. Good architecture is vital because it affects the quality of our lives. It does more than provide a backdrop for our special events, it also colors our everyday experiences.
All of my life goals have revolved around the natural environment and quality place-making. Educated at the University of Oregon, my eco-friendly approach to design was fully internalized long ago, before sustainable design was even a thing. I am most passionate about passive design, as it is a technology that will never become obsolete.
In my free time I enjoy sketching, design, writing, reading—literature, philosophy, science, history—teaching, traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with children, animals and important causes (education, environment, health, and wellbeing…)
I am the author of two books on timeless architectural design principles. They are part of a series called Simple Rules for Architects & Designers, which you can check out here if you are interested.
